  • Spy Hunter for the Atari 2600 by Sega

    1984 Sega 011-02

Another very fun arcade game that made its way to the home system, Spy Hunter, begins by releasing your car from the back of a Weapons Van. Then it's off to destroy the other cars on the road before they destroy you. You have four weapons at your disposal: machine gun, missiles, oil slick, and smoke screen (plus the ability to simply push the cars off the road). When you reach a boathouse, your car will temporarily turn into a boat and you must battle enemy boats. Each of the enemy cars and boats are equipped with unique abilities. Spy Hunter requires both joysticks to operate the various weapons, and originally came with a "Dual Command Module" that orients the joysticks in the proper directions. But with a little trial and error you can figure it out. The best part of Spy Hunter is the memorable theme music that plays continuously.
