If you think of the most influential games made in the 80's, Donkey Kong would be pretty high on the list. The arcade version was developed by Nintendo in 1981 and translated to the 2600 only a year later. Mario (who later became the poster child of Nintendo) must climb up a scaffold to rescue his girlfriend from the big monkey dude. Mario has to dodge barrels that the ape rolls down at him. In the second stage, Mario disassembles a structure, which knocks the ape onto his head. Then you start all over again. The ape in the 2600 version of the game looks particularly threatening.
