    The exciting game play of the arcade game transferred to the Atari fairly well. In Defender, you cruise through the sky shooting bad guy UFO's and rescuing the people that the aliens are trying to cart away. You're supposed to avoid shooting the hostages in the process, but we all know you will. To go into hyperspace, fly to the top of the screen and press the button and you will appear somewhere else in the city. To use your smart bomb, fly to the bottom of the screen and press your button, and every enemy on the screen will be vaporized at once.
